REGISTRATION FOR THE 2023 EUROPEAN LOCAL DEMOCRACY WEEK IS OPEN!
Local and regional authorities of the 46 Member States of the Council of Europe are invited to register on our website to take part in the 2023 edition of the ELDW, a pan-European initiative aimed at boosting local democracy and citizen participation, which is coordinated by the Congress since 2007.
On 20 March 2023, the Congress Bureau approved as the ELDW theme for 2023-2024 “Local communities: putting democratic resilience at the forefront”. You are encouraged to organise activities under this theme throughout the year, culminating in a flagship event during the week of 15 October.
The ELDW theme for 2023-2024 focuses on local action to building democratic resilience of societies and increasing the protection of citizens and work towards achieving SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and on ways in which territorial authorities could integrate it into their work plans.
To register, we invite you to create your profile on our online platform and inform us about the activities you are planning to organise. The municipalities that already took part in the ELDW in the previous years can register by logging in to their personal account and following the instructions.
Also, do not forget to follow the European Local Democracy Week on social media and use the ELDW hashtag (#ELDW) to promote the initiative and raise awareness between communities in Europe and beyond:
