With a view to the 2016 edition of the ELDW on “Living together in culturally diverse societies: respect, dialogue, interaction”, the “More than one story” card game is a tool of great interest. This game was developed by the Department of Culture and Leisure of Simrishamn, Sweden back in 2012. In the tough context of the rise of extremism and racism, the idea was to develop a practical tool to actively promote integration, understanding, healthy curiosity and respect between people of different ages, backgrounds and cultures. This game creates an atmosphere of openness and sharing and enables the players to see each other in a different light. Since its creation, more than five millions stories have been told by 500 000 people in over 20 languages. This game was awarded the Democracy Innovation Award at the Council of Europe World Forum for Democracy in 2015. The ELDW partners are encouraged to use this tool to fight prejudices and racism and promote intercultural dialogue and understanding.
